Millennials and Gen Z: The Change Makers

Millennials and Gen Z: The Change Makers

We have a powerful potential in our youth, and we must have the courage to change old ideas and practices so that we may direct their power toward good ends. – Mary McLeod Bethune

The youth of the nation is inclined to the state of humanity. There are many social issues prevalent in society, and the young population is trying to make themselves useful by contributing at any level that can be helpful for the betterment of the world.

The young population is energetic, creative, brave, and have all the resources to raise the issues to the surface level and attract the attention of the authorities towards the resolvement of the causes. There are many contemporary issues that are raised by youth and even backed existing campaigns like:

  1. Gender Equality
  2. Global Warming
  3. Better Education
  4. Fundamental Rights

Age doesn’t determine the stand for a good cause. The well-connected world allowed the youth all over the world to stay connected and support good causes from the forefront. Some issues might be dealt on a global level while some are confined to a micro-community, but all issues are equally relevant. However, only peaceful approaches are to be opted when concerning social issues. There are many ways to incorporate friendly ways to encourage authorities to take concrete steps in order to improve current situations.

Change at Grassroot level

Young individuals can start the wave of change at their own school. Constructive debates around a social cause and activities to understand what can be a better approach in a given situation. School is where an individual is shaped and that character they carry for the rest of their life. If the environment of the school allows the students to question the ongoing practices, it will enable them to bring a change in society.

It is rightly said – “To bring a change in society, one should start with their own mindset”.

Students should be given space in the school as well as homes to extend their thoughts on a social issue and thus should either be supported or countered on substantial arguments.

Discuss with the authorities

The authorities are not considered enemies or bad guys, instead of a body that has the power to taking decisions considering the available data, and they welcome substantial criticism as well as suggestions. One can deliberate and come up with solutions that are practical and can kickstart the road to recovery.

To sum up

The youth of any nation is the most powerful asset. They hold the courage to change the world with their technological advancement and keep the space to think creatively, along with understanding their duty to be at service for humanity and make the world peaceful and healthy where everyone feels safe, happy, and nurtured.

The future of any society is to support the wave youth brings, if enabled with the required resources and directed to the right path: they together can bring the best and substantial changes in a short span of time.
